League Information
Maur Hill – Mount Academy begins an exciting new chapter in it's athletic history by becoming a new member of the Delaware Valley League this year. The Delaware Valley League is a trailblazer as far as conference expansion goes. The NCAA conferences like the Pac 10 and the Big 10 who are seeking to expand their leagues are behind the curve when compared to the DVL. The Delaware Valley League has grown from 10 teams to 14 teams in a relatively short period of time. It is a conference comprised of 2A and 3A teams whereas our previous league, the Big Seven, is laden with 4A schools. Competing with schools of similar size will be advantageous to our students. Fair competition will certainly benefit our athletes and coaches.
The 14 teams will be divided into the North Division and the South Division for football and volleyball. In basketball, the whole conference will be involved in a 13 game round-robin. All other sports will involve all league teams engaged in that particular activity. For example, there are 8 league schools playing baseball so 7 doubleheaders will be played by each team. The rest of the schedule will be comprised of non-league teams. The League is comprised of the following teams:
NORTH DIVISION
- Atchison County Community High School (ACCHS) Tigers (Effingham) (Also new to the League this year coming from the Big Seven!)
- Doniphan West Mustangs (Highland)
- Horton Chargers
- Jackson Heights Cobras (Holton)
- Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens
- Troy Trojans
- Wathena Wildcats (Note: As of 2011-12, Wathena and Elwood High Schools will merge forming Riverside High School Cyclones)
SOUTH DIVISION
- Immaculata Raiders (Leavenworth)
- Jefferson County North (JCN) Chargers (Winchester)
- Kansas City Christian Panthers (Prairie Village)
- McLouth Bulldogs
- Oskaloosa Bears
- Pleasant Ridge Rams (Easton)
