Annual Fund
We currently have been focusing on building/sustaining our annual fund. A $75,000 gift challenge commitment to the annual fund has been made. If we can secure forty-four commitments of $2,500 a year for three years, an anonymous donor will contribute $25,000 a year for three years, totaling $75,000. When total challenge is met, this will raise $135,000-$175,000 for this year and in each of the following two years.
Technology Updates
This past December, we received a $100,000 gift for technology updates. The updates included twenty-five instructional computers for a mobile lab with a cart, twenty new computers to update our research center, a projection screen to be used for large groups in the auditorium, eight new projectors & cabling, eight new video projectors, nine new document cameras, nine new school pads, eight new wireless electronic white boards for classrooms, and a new server to better meet our needs. These new tools and resources will benefit both our teachers and students in a major way!
Capital Projects
In following the schools motto, “Shaping Those Who Shape the Future,” the schools Board of Directors has approved a project of updating the schools 46-year-old science lab area and converting it into a “State of the Art” Science Lab. This project will concentrate on the entire science wing located in the Fr. Edwin Watson Academic Building. Two classrooms will be refurbished, along with the hall, and a new general science classroom will be added to make a total of four classroom areas to be completed by next school year 2008-2009. The total cost of the science renovation project will be $470,000.
An anonymous donor committed a gift to the science lab renovation of $150,000 if 4-6 large gifts of $20,000 or more can be secured. Then just recently, Scott ’88 and Kim Penning presented a new challenge to the board of directors. If ten members of the Board can each raise $20,000 for this project totaling $200,000 within 60 days (June 30th), Scott and Kim Penning will contribute $100,000 towards this project. By meeting this challenge, $470,000 total will be raised.
The development staff and Board of Directors at Maur Hill-Mount Academy are working hard to meet these challenges and secure the funding for this important project. We are currently seeking donations and pledges for the Science Wing Campaign. |
